Geeking out retro style.

So, I just made the amazing discovery of an official retro version of the Okami soundtrack. It's just 17 songs/sound effects, but it's wonderfully nostalgic sounding.

<3 Reminds me of the glory days of Left Right A B, *how hard do you have to jam the game genie into the NES to make it work?* moments

<3 Plus, I bought the tin T.A.R.D.I.S. lunchbox at HMV. I intend on using it as a float box in the future, which is totally the excuse I have for buying it. Having said that, it was cheaper than I saw it at the con by over $5 so I feel I made a wise purchase. Also, I now haz a lunchbox. Now if I can only get my little hands on that rolling T.A.R.D.I.S. luggage.

...I really have nothing costuming related to say at the moment. I mean, I spent about 5 minutes trying to work out a more accurate cost of my flower pins, but gave up when I really had no idea how I paid for my brooch backs. I'll see if I can find the ones I bought online and work it out from there. Create a sort of minimum maximum thingie. Of an Excel sort.

That's all. Happy Thorsday, loves.

Do you dream of damask?

I kept daydreaming of skirt designs at work. I was builidng bird cages so my mind was quite free to wander.

I really want to make a short gathery or box pleated skirt, with the main fabric as a delightfully nerdy print and a solid colour border hem and waistband. I saw a skirt in a single colour at the One of a Kind sale in silk but I don't know if I can recall the pattern enough to reverse engineer it. A lot of the patterns I'm seeming to find on the pattern catelogue are crossgrain cut which I don't think would work with the direction of the print on the fabrics I'm looking at.

Having said that, summer patterns are likely on their way, so maybe some more patterns will pop up soon.

Got a few more cuffs in the ready-to-grommet stage, which the next lot should arrive hopefully tomorrow or the next day. Cut out some more in the newer smaller size, as well.

I'll need to make another Sussman's trip soon, to get some more of the trims I'm favouring. Hopefully in the next two weeks. I do need to make something with that blue trim though. It hasn't found it's home yet.

Morning goal: Cut out beige and brown small cuff pairs.

What? Even more progress?

Yep. Petticoat is officially complete. And as adorably ruffly as I predicted. Plus, it sits a few centimetres higher than the over skirt, as I had tried for.

100% success all around!

Now, I am sitting with a bowl of half chocolate peanut butter cup half mint chocolate cup ice cream, mentally patting myself on the back.

Not bad for a Thursday night.

Tomorrow is the big day for Operation Get-a-table, so I best ready my email draft.

Oh, and my sonic screwdriver came in. <3 So, I set myself to building 10th's, and then since I hadn't remember to do so, 11th's that came with the DVD gift set.

Fun Fact 1! You need a screwdriver to load the batteries into the screwdriver. Derp Herp.

Fun Fact 2! I couldn't get the sealing tape off the package of 11th's, and instinctively grabbed 10th's and fired it at the package in hopes that it would open it. It didn't work. I can only assume it was deadlock sealed. It did, however, renew my geek membership to gold status, incase I had any doubt. (Which, really, I didn't.)

Now then, on to that draft.

And.. I made my own day, today.

Really. You so rarely get to make such epically geeky moments in your life that makes you feel top shelf.

Dateline, January 31st. Sometime before 10 o'clock this morning. In summary.

Co-worker: So, I finally finished watching LOST.
Me: Oh good! Did you like it?
Co-Worker: Yes.
Me: Well, what did you think?
Co-worker: I have no idea what happened.
Me: You did it right. No one did.
Co-worker: It was fine with the flashbacks...and then the flashforwards.
Me: And then the flashsideways, and flashbacks that were more flashpresents?
Co-worker: Yeah,  I mean, did they like, all die? On the island?
Me: Eventually, sort of. It all happened, but didn't. It's like time slipped under itself.
Co-worker: Ahhh...?

And then, I realized with pefect clarity, that there was only one answer I could give. One answer that would explain it all. So, I grinned with all the power of my geekiness and said with all the pride and paraphrasing I could muster...

Me:  "People assume that time is just a linear progression of cause and effect. Bit it's really more of a great big ball of wibbley-wobbly timey-wimey stuff."

I then gracefully pivoted and took my exit to stage left patting myself on my own back for inserting my favourite line into a real conversation. For that moment, I was my own rockstar.

Now if you will excuse me, I have seams to stitch.
