Stuff. And things.

Right then.

It's been a weird couple of months. I'm going to blame most of that on the fact that I am currently unemployed due to the fact the company I worked for, well, died/went/up in flames/chose your adjective of choice. It's sucked. It's been stressful and depressing. But whatever, I still have my creativity which never got used there ever.

Anyways.

The good news is, FanExpo has been confirmed, the contract sent and the must needed-much look forwarded to, first con...only con...of 2016 is right around the corner, and I really have done nothing at all.

This changes today.

It's been a lot of prototypes the past little bit.  There's new fandoms I have been introduced to, and new fandoms that have been created, and old ones that have been revived.

1. Pokemon Go. Welcome to the Pokemon world, new kids. It's fun here. Most of the time. For this I will and have created simple bracelets for each of the teams. Bamboo, glass, very subtle representations of Team Valor, Mystic and Instinct. There's also a matching necklace, because why not. They will be under $10, so nice and affordable for everyone, and easy to wear. Good for everyday. Or when you take a gym and victory lap over it. I myself, at this time, have not chosen a team. I will one day.

2. Neko Atsume bracelets - I started them. I have two testers of the ribbon and pearl - yes, we went with glass pearls, it looks good - examples, and but I need the ribbon clamps and some clasps for the other ones. It's going to be a two or three stackable bracelet, because that's more fun than one. And trendy, aptly enough, if you were aware of that kind of thing or care. Not sure about pricings as of yet. Need to finish one first.

3. Sailor Moon Tiara Cuff bracelets - prototype created today in progress. A modified version of my traditional fabric cuffs. The base seems nailed down but I am working on the trimming. Had to scratch a few, before deciding on the current one. Needs to be more gold, so I am looking into paint tinting it. They're gonna be a lot of hand sewing though. The sharp curves aren't something a machine can control well.

4. Steven Universe. We're (I refer to myself in third person a lot when I am blogging about my stuff. I feel like my tumblr sounds like there is a whole team of people at Magic and Stitchcraft instead of me, myself and I.) Anyway. Stevie U. For that, there is going to be hair flowers, and slightly fancier versions with feathers in fascinator form. Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl for sure. Need a better button for Garnet, I think. The one I current have is too small.

There are several of my other existing products that can do for a rebrand with the current trends. My articuno fascinator is much more relevant now as a Team Mystic item, than it was before. Therefore I will create Zaptos and Fire-Chicken as well to round of the set. I need to work on displaying them for their respective fandoms better as well. Make 'em pop out.

Other than that, I have Triforce cuffs to make, since I was able to get to Sussman's new Hamilton location. (Miss you guys in Hogtown. <3 - But I totally get needing to move from the expensiveness of it all) some more Marvel flowers, and general flowers over all.

Work work work. Get to it, Moofy

Today's Goal.

Random Day off. Must make most of it.

Inbetween the babysitting of the niece, we will:

Basically complete all of the Royal Hylian Cuffs. Half are grommetted, the rest post-nap. Trimming should be okay to apply by machine I hope, because that would make it SO much faster. Add sparkle, cut ribbon, nod in a pleased fashion.

Grommet triforce cuffs. ..... I think that will take most of the time, as they are more of those than others.

...Optional Goals - cuff out and stitch, the lace and black triforce cuffs.

We'll see.

Today's tuesday.

Yesterday was Tuesday, too!

.....

Heat of the Moment, played on the radio today. On Tuesday. A cooler person than I wouldn't have reacted as I did. But I am fully accepting of my geekishness so react, I did.

The bodice and I are still avoiding each other. Though, I did put the darts in the arm holes. It's honestly not going to be until this week that I have enough uninterrupted time WITH daylight to work on it.

So I summoned my 4 meters of ruby red material and am now part way finished constructing my Heart Piece dress. To be styled like the Game of Thrones maxi dress, it will be created to honour the heart piece pendant I got at the last FanExpo. All rich red and brilliant gold.

Remember! If I don't have anything to wear with a new piece of costume jewelery I WILL MAKE IT.

(And I will dress as as many inanimate objects as I can. Because I can. It's kinda my trademark)

It's not hard to put together at least. It's just a lot of hemming. Though I do need to get another hitch ring for the back. And figure out what to wear underneath it. Wonder if I can find gold tube top, that I would never wear in public unless it was used for the sole purpose of covering up excess bare skin underneath another dress. Maybe one of those We-sell-way-too-small-clothing-trendy-trendy-OMG-dance-club stores would have something that would work.

 I'll check tomorrow.

Ideas- They're EVERYWHERE. Get use to it.

First off.

94 days until Costume Con. Ho-LEE-Frig. Where did those hundreds of days go???  I must get started on...all the things. As I have said for weeks. At least I remembered to update the credit card on file for the hotel, so I will still have a room. (Of which the hotel is booked solid and now they have overflows. It sounds like its going to be a huge costume con. So much talent....)

Secondly. I finally finished A Link Between Worlds. Probably faster than I could or should have, but I had an idea in my head. But, seeing as the idea involved research that could have spoiled the plot of the game (which is a big no no in my world) I had to rush it a bit. It's the whole idea of the dual triforces.

I mean, it's not an entirely new concept, I'm sure. Fanon is....fanon. But to see it come alive in canon images is so.... intriguing. The two of them are often shown in the gold and silver aspects, throughout the game. So, my brain being...my brain is: OH HAI THAR! YOU KNOW THOSE TWO PIECES OF FABRIC YOU HAVE? THE GOLD AND SILVER ONES???

Yes,  brain. I do know. I know, and I hear you loud and clear. So now I am creating a pair of costumes. Simple, but elegant. I see the maxi dress. It's a perfect usage for those yardages. Play off them. Use gold and bright regal versus silver with tarnish. Just like Zelda and Hilda. Same silhouette, different specific details. You'd need each one of the 'forces to carry, of course. Incorporate the crests somehow. As wings? They'd need equal detailing on the hems, maybe?

I am going to have 50 of these dresses, but so easy to make ideas around them....

*twitches* I need a blank shape form of the maxi dress.....

Little projects

I've decided I want to do a few simple costumes this year - in addition to the OMGCostumeCon ones, at least. Seeing as (at this point) my goal is to have a booth at both Animenorth and FanExpo, I would (more than likely) not be competing at either of those two cons. But, while I don't want to just wear street clothes for booth running/con going, (though I insured that the outfits I did wear while running the booth matching my product samples) I think if I made a few simple outfits, both funky and comfortable, that would suffice.

That was a terrible, run on sentence.

Anyway.

I do love my Game of Thrones maxi dress. And I do have the same material I used for it, in other colours, which to be honest, I have not used for anything, and I can't see a need for most of them in the foreseeable future. I plan on making a red/gold version of it. I have a heart piece necklace, that I wear on a thick gold torque/choker that is practically crying out to be worn amazingly. Therefore, the bulk of the dress will be red, and the shoulder straps will be in gold braiding. I have a thin, but elastic gold braid-like belt which should taper it in, like the belt I wear for the green GoT dress.

I might see if I can do some sort of gold detailing at the bottom hem of the dress, rather than doing an insert panel to make it different than the green one. I'm see the over all effect as being a Heart Piece/Goddess Din sort of look. I'll need some sort of headpiece as well. But, overall it shouldn't be too hard to pull together. Oh, and I do need something under it - I did find the corset pattern 2355 at Fabricland - $2 - so I could make another - with less itchy trim. Or maybe a cheater bandeau?

Hmmmm... have three dresses. One for each Hylian Goddess. That'd be fun.... Must recruit friends....

I also plan on making a fascinator akin to Effie's in Catching Fire - the Monarch butterfly one. I found the butterflies at Micheals, for 40% off. :D Perhaps to wear, perhaps to sell. Not sure, but I want to make it either way.

Now, I must work on tutoring notes. Chop, chop, Moofy.

It finally arrived!

Oh, my beloved Hyrule Historia. Who's a pretty artbook? Yes, you are. Yes, you are! <3

Which came five minutes before I had to leave for work. Biggest tease ever.
But, now I can read it at my leisure. And some of the random notes in the captions of the pictures are revealing new information that I did not think of before.

The character concept art is awesome.
And I haven't even read the manga yet.

'Tis one of those fandom moments, you wait for.

Weekend approaching. Do you want to proceed? Y/N

Y.

I....should not drink coffee too late at night. Quotith myself to my friends in the car tonight: "I sound senile." And then I laughed, in a not to stable way. Glorious.

Anyway.

Plan on for fabric cutting this weekend. Going to get the cloak, skirt, and perhaps the bodice cut out and then it's just a matter of racing the bobbin thread to the end of the spool.

This is my baby, my glory. I have zero regrets about buying her.

Babylock Symphony. The Mothership of GLORY.
She's officially a year old now. Can't believe it. Can't believe it's been a year I haven't called a sewing machine foul things. It's very...liberating. I wonder what sort of madness Year Two will bring for the two of us?

Anyway.

So yeah, fabric cutting Saturday. Recovering from more Doctor Who on Friday Night. 007 Event at the TIFF on Sunday with Kashunga. Surpressed the urge to wear a tuxedo....only because I don't own one. The Bay Queen St. totally had one on sale two weeks ago too. Should work on my fashion folio sketch too. And get my laptop USB mouse working again. I drive this touchpad mouse like a drunk person.

Ooh, and my Auntie brought me more pins today. Now I have aqua tipped ones. :D My pin cushion is an occular delight.

I wonder if I should insert horsehair braid into the hood of the cloak? I mean, I do have all that from when I didn't use it on my Phoenix dress. I wonder if that will shape the hood better than just having it hang loosely. Though I will be wearing it tied underneath my armpits rather than around my neck. And I wonder if that hood is too small, and I should somehow make it larger? No idea how to do that though. I could always recut one as a test..... It's not like I don't have 2 extra metres of fabric after all.....

*rocks out to Guitar Hero III soundtrack*
*green green greenredredredblueblue....YELLOW*

The Gate of Time from Skyward of Sword needs to be made into something of a textile origin.

Other than my current desktop wallpaper. Could make an excellent t-shirt design,

Annnnd, enough rammbling for me tonight. For now.

That pleat.

Did I figure it out? I dunno. I think I figured it out. I made a few tester pieces (aka, scraps of receipt paper cut to look like the back panel of a coat) and randomly stapled it in places. It looks like it would work. No idea how that would change if the coat was lined, and lining it up with the vent down the back. Huh.  Needs more dakka research.

No luck locating a pashmina scarf for Red. Not that I've been looking exhaustively, but there's nothing in the mall, that I can see. Might just have to be one of those things that is always on the back on the mind.

Test lifted my fabric rubbermaid today. It's very heavy. Yet, I feel like I have no fabric. I horde, apparently. Though I do have a particularly long length of a white.... tablecloth like fabric? Not sure what you would classify it as other than tablecloth on christmas dinner fabric. When I saw it I felt like it should be made into:

Orielle's Cape, from Skyward Sword. I totally have a yellow shirt that would work for that. Totally.
Can't wait for that artbook to come in. Jan 29th is the release date. Hopefully it won't take too long after to arrive. ...Mainly for the manga. <3
